Circle cake

Another cake donated for a work fundraiser.
Chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream filling.
I love the look of the simple & colorful circles.

Mini cupcakes!!

To try out some new cupcake and icing flavors, i hosted a Norwex/Cupcake tasting party.
I invited some family and friends and got some great feed back from everyone. I will be offering some of these flavors to clients. I came up with 9 different flavors to test out:

1. Carrot cake with cream cheese icing
2. Chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream icing
3. Extra Vanilla delight - Vanilla cupcakes with a vanilla pudding center topped with vanilla buttercream icing
4. Chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream icing
5. Vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream
6. Red velvet
7. Chocolate cake with mint buttercream
8. Vanilla cake with raspberry buttercream
9. Chocolate cake with strawberry buttercream

The two favorites were the chocolate cake with mint buttercream and chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream (my fav!!)

Cherry Blossom Tree Cake

This is a cake i've been wanting to make for a while and i was super excited to make it and so happy with the way it turned out :) I was lucky to have the opportunity to make it for a cake walk fundraiser at my work place.

Green Cedar Cake

A three tier wedding cake consisting of a chocolate cake filled with vanilla buttercream, vanilla cake with raspberry buttercream & a chocolate cake filled with strawberry buttercream.

I was so excited when I envisioned this wood cake stand/board. I got one made, and I think it ties the cedar on the cake and the green satin ribbon together beautifully.

Congratulations to the newlywed's! :)

P.S - i didn't notice how off the green ribbon was until i was putting it in the car. It was fixed for the wedding :)

All this for a very special couple celebrating their ten year wedding anniversary! I was lucky enough to be a guest at this party, and what a party it was! Great company, great food, and a great time dancing! Here's wishing you two to many more years of happiness :)

Happy Birthday to ME!!

I had a lot of people ask, and joke, if I had made my own cake for my birthday. I didn't. Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't have had time after making the helmet, bridal shower cake and 60 cupcakes over the weekend. What I did get though is an ice cream cake. I actually asked for a different cake which my family was unable to find, but now that I think about it, I can't remember the last time I didn't have an ice cream cake on my birthday. So I'm glad the tradition stuck. So here I am, with my cake, my handsome husband in the background, and my dad's hand, coming to shove my face into the cake. Luckily I know him too well and saw it coming so was able to jump away in time :)
What comes after cake.....PRESENTS!!
P.S my parents are re-painting the house, so don't mind the drywall.

And here it is!!! My very own Kitchen Aid Mixer!! It's so pretty :) This machine is going to save me ssssoo much time. Too bad I wasn't born 3 days earlier, it would have come in handy making the 2 cakes and 60 cupcakes I did over the weekend. But, it's here now and I couldn't be any happier :)

Bridal Shower Cake and Cupcakes

Hatbox Cake!! This has probably been one of my favorite cakes to make thus far. It was a lot of work, but i LOVED the end result. Everything you see is edible, even the hand made flowers and pearl necklace (to tie into the bridal shower theme "Pretty in Pearls") This is a chocolate cake with raspberry buttercream.

and 60 cupcakes to go with the cake. Chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with buttercream topped with various flowers. The shower was lots of fun and I wish soon to be Mr and Mrs. a life full of happiness :)

Fox Racing Helmet cake

This cake was probably one of the toughest cakes I've made so far. It was a little tricky at times, but I was pleased with the end result. I hope the birthday boy love it :)

New Icing! Peanut Butter Buttercream

Now that I'm starting to feel more comfortable with my decorating skills, I'm going to start experimenting with different recipes. My first adventure; Peanut Butter Buttercream. I made my first batch for a potluck at work the other day, and put it on top of chocolate cupcakes. Everyone at work loved them! I LOVED them! Who doesn't love the combination of peanut butter and chocolate :) I will definitely be using this as a filling and icing more often.

Pink Wedding Cake

I had my final cake class last week, it was bitter sweet. Its nice to have Tuesday and Wednesdays free now, but I miss learning, my classmates and my teacher. Our class was always full of fun and laughs :)
Our final project was a big one, a 2 or 3 tier stacked fondant covered cake. I decided to do a wedding cake with over 25 white, pink and red handmade fondant roses and a beautiful pink ribbon.

This was my final cake project for course #2. A buttercream cake with beautiful royal icing flowers.

Elders Celebration Cake

This was my first time covering cake with fondant! I decided to take a risk and donate a cake for our Elders Celebration Cake. My vision was to have bear prints and bears all over the cake. I think it turned out pretty great. The bottom is a chocolate cake with chocolate filling, and the top tier is a vanilla cake with vanilla filling.

Happy Birthday Grandpa!! Poker Table Cake

Happy Birthday Grandpa!!
My grandpa loves to play poker, so my dad asked me to make him a poker themed cake. This is what i came up with. I was pretty happy with it as it was my first time working with fondant.

Relay for Life Cupcake fundraiser

In an effort to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society - Relay for Life that i am participating in June 4, 2010, i decided to make cupcakes with the Canadian Cancer Society trademark flower the daffodil and the breast cancer ribbon. I e-mailed everyone in my office asking if people would be interested in donating money for these cupcakes and i received an overwhelming response and ended up making 8 dozen cupcakes. I raised $130 for my team "Choosing to Smile 2" !!!! Thank you everyone at Xyolhemeylh that donated!!
