Happy Birthday to ME!!

I had a lot of people ask, and joke, if I had made my own cake for my birthday. I didn't. Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't have had time after making the helmet, bridal shower cake and 60 cupcakes over the weekend. What I did get though is an ice cream cake. I actually asked for a different cake which my family was unable to find, but now that I think about it, I can't remember the last time I didn't have an ice cream cake on my birthday. So I'm glad the tradition stuck. So here I am, with my cake, my handsome husband in the background, and my dad's hand, coming to shove my face into the cake. Luckily I know him too well and saw it coming so was able to jump away in time :)
What comes after cake.....PRESENTS!!
P.S my parents are re-painting the house, so don't mind the drywall.

And here it is!!! My very own Kitchen Aid Mixer!! It's so pretty :) This machine is going to save me ssssoo much time. Too bad I wasn't born 3 days earlier, it would have come in handy making the 2 cakes and 60 cupcakes I did over the weekend. But, it's here now and I couldn't be any happier :)

Bridal Shower Cake and Cupcakes

Hatbox Cake!! This has probably been one of my favorite cakes to make thus far. It was a lot of work, but i LOVED the end result. Everything you see is edible, even the hand made flowers and pearl necklace (to tie into the bridal shower theme "Pretty in Pearls") This is a chocolate cake with raspberry buttercream.

and 60 cupcakes to go with the cake. Chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with buttercream topped with various flowers. The shower was lots of fun and I wish soon to be Mr and Mrs. a life full of happiness :)

Fox Racing Helmet cake

This cake was probably one of the toughest cakes I've made so far. It was a little tricky at times, but I was pleased with the end result. I hope the birthday boy love it :)

New Icing! Peanut Butter Buttercream

Now that I'm starting to feel more comfortable with my decorating skills, I'm going to start experimenting with different recipes. My first adventure; Peanut Butter Buttercream. I made my first batch for a potluck at work the other day, and put it on top of chocolate cupcakes. Everyone at work loved them! I LOVED them! Who doesn't love the combination of peanut butter and chocolate :) I will definitely be using this as a filling and icing more often.

What better way to celebrate the new Sex and the City 2 movie then by making cupcakes!! I topped the cupcakes with everything the girls love; Shoes, martinis, purses, dresses, lip stick, the city (bottom left cupcake) and flowers!

Pink Wedding Cake

I had my final cake class last week, it was bitter sweet. Its nice to have Tuesday and Wednesdays free now, but I miss learning, my classmates and my teacher. Our class was always full of fun and laughs :)
Our final project was a big one, a 2 or 3 tier stacked fondant covered cake. I decided to do a wedding cake with over 25 white, pink and red handmade fondant roses and a beautiful pink ribbon.
